Video: Real-world Image Stabilization with iMovie ‘09

Despite my long history with Windows, indeed I own and regularly use a Mac (a G5) and so am looking forward to using the latest IMovie ‘09’s image stabilization feature.

Chris Grace shows what kind of results you can expect in real-world situations. It’s worth watching this video, just for the emotional breakdown ;-) Chris has when stabilization is not used. The fun begins at 0:56.

Pixels: An Update to my Screen Capture and Recording Post concerning Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

Thomas Plagwitz reminded me that I had forgotten another free tool that produces good results in screen capture: Windows Media Encoder 9 Series

I haven’t used this one for years. So, inspired by his comment I tried it and was overall quite pleased with the results. The UI is a bit hard to understand, but you can’t beat the price (free). It’s certainly worth investigation if you are looking for a low-cost alternative to Camtasia Studio

I’ve updated my original post to include some more information on Windows Media Encoder 9 Series.
